Isabella is Finished

Isabella
Watercolor
16 x 20

Alright!  I'm finally finished with this portrait of my oldest daughter Isabella.  It took me a few extra days to decide what to do about her dress.  I'm still not thrilled with the color or even the style, but as you know, with watercolor there is no going back!  So I am satisfied with it, and will be more careful on her next portrait..

So I recently went on a fishing trip on the Smith River in Montana.  Wow!  What a ride!  We camped out at four different spots along the river on our five day float trip.  It was such a neat experience.  It's not everyday you get to cook your breakfast and dinner outside over a hot flaming fire!  Or use a Latrine (better defined as a toilet in the middle of a field!) with a five star view of the Rocky Mountains!  To say the least, it was a trip that I will never forget with my Husband and good friends.

So about this painting!  I found a picture of this Russian character in a National Geographic book on the Soviet Union.  There were so many amazing pictures to choose from.  I painted him in about an hour between the first night we were there, and finishing him up in the morning.  He was a great way to calm my itch to paint, and start my fishing expedition!

Update

I'm all finished with Bella's face, and now all that's left is her dress.  I'm still not sure how that will come out.  I need to process a little more.

Isabella WIP

I am so excited to work on this portrait of my oldest daughter Isabella!  She was only two in the last portrait I painted of her.  Not one of my favorites at all!  This is a larger than life painting at 16 x 20.  I am really looking forward to how this one will play out..  She looks kind of creepy right now.. haha

Here is the the final of Kristy's Commissioned Piece..

Foggy Morning at Valley Forge
Watercolor
12 x 16

Gosh, I really love how the framing turned out on this piece.  It's not overstated, and yet very classy.  Good job Kristy.  It was a fun experience trying to pick things out and you ended up loving the same one I was in love with!  Sorry about the glare in the glass..

No Name Yet.. Any Ideas?

Watercolor
12 x 18

All finished up with my fly fisher.. Do you have any title ideas?  For some reason I am struggling!  Had fun with this one too..

Wild Horses

Wild Horses
Watercolor
11 x 14

I am finished up with my painting of wild horses.. I really enjoyed this one.  I find it so funny how fast I can paint something for myself verses painting a commission!  It must be the pressure.  I take forever to paint something I am getting paid for.  I always think I'm going to mess it up somehow, and tend to over think the painting.  That's probably something that will get easier as I go and grow as an Artist.  Thanks for looking!

HELP!

Hi there my blogger friends!  I am getting really anxious about this art show/fair coming up in a week and a half.  I was hoping that some of you have done something like this before.  I would be super appreciative if you would take the time to share a few tips with me on how to go about this.  I am lost on what I should be selling my Giclee' prints for.  I don't know if you price low like $20-$30, or higher like $100-$150?  So any advise that you have to offer is great!  Thank you so much for your help!  Email me at jtwatercolorportraits@hotmail.com.
