Current Watercolor Commissions

 Andrew, Luke, and Scott

 Sweet little Rowan

I am working on these two paintings today.  It's been a nice relaxing Christmas Eve morning.  I'm hoping to have Rowan done today, and make great progress on Andrew, Luke, and Scott.  Happy Christmas Eve friends.

Olivia

I just finished this portrait of Olivia.  This was a real quick painting that I did for fun.  I just really wanted to play with deeper colors in the face.  I am currently working on three commissioned portraits.  One of three young men, and two of two darling little boys.  I will post something soon on those.

Snowman

I Painted this little snowman this evening.  I was inspired to paint a cute little snowman for my Aunt, who has always been in love with snowmen.  I put her initials at the bottom of his scarf for her.  I so enjoyed painting this at my kitchen table with four little girls surrounding me with excitement!  It was so cute.  There is nothing more fun than doing what I love with a handful of little eager artists looking to me for help and inspiration.  Just too cool.

Lonesome Dove Ranch

This is a river scene that I did a few years back.  I snapped a picture below the bridge that lead to my Grandparent's ranch in Alpine, Wyoming.  It was so gorgeous.  The land was covered with grassy hills and quaking aspens.  My Grandfather now resides in Sedona, Arizona, and I am going to do some paintings of his new surroundings.

Christina

I did this portrait of my sister Christina when I was in high school.  So it is not a new painting, just one off of my mom's wall.  As you can see, she had really beautiful big brown eyes.  She still does and she now has a sweet little girl (my niece) with the same big brown eyes.  It's pretty cool how our children pick up some of our characteristics.  Hope you enjoy.

Village Reflections

Although this is definitely not one of my favorite paintings that I've created, I can say that I truly enjoyed painting this scene.  I find it so much harder to paint something from imagination.  I usually use a photograph that I have taken or something that I have seen before.  I love using a variety of bright colors and keeping some white in the painting.  Hope you enjoy..

Kyndra Layne's Finished Portrait

Kyndra's portrait is finished and has been delivered to the family.  Wow was that ever emotional, but also very rewarding.  It was so amazing to see how the whole family came together to be there for Anna.  I definitely have the most amazing and most loving family, and I am so grateful. I gave my In-laws a print of her portrait, and I will later post how to get one for the other relatives.  Thanks for supporting us through this journey.

Kyndra's Portrait

I am so excited for this coming week!  My family and I are headed to Montana for Thanksgiving.  It is always a warm, fun, and exciting time with ten grandchildren running around.  My two girls have a blast!  Good food, great company..  After Thanksgiving we will be heading further north to deliver Kyndra's portrait to Anna.  She isn't expecting us, so I'm a little nervous about it.  She has been so strong for her two little girls, and she just amazes me.  I am always praying that God will give her the strength and the courage to get through each day and to have peace knowing that her sweet baby girl is an angel in heaven now.  I finished her portrait a couple days ago and I ran it straight to the printers so I will have prints of the portrait for all of Kyndra's relatives.  I will post her final portrait on Tuesday when I pick it up!!

Kyndra Layne

I am still working on this portrait and will post the final in the next couple of days.  I started this portrait today of my seven year old niece Kyndra.  There is a lot of emotion behind this painting.  Just a few months ago we lost Kyndra in an accident.  We miss her dearly and we will always remember her big smile and her beautiful blue eyes.  Our memories with her will always be treasured in our hearts.

Santa Baby

I truly enjoyed painting Santa Claus..  He is just so warm and fuzzy, and can put a smile on every face.  I have prints available of this painting.  Something new that I am starting and I am very excited about is having the option to make certain prints into greeting cards.  Perfect for the holidays, or just a casual "thinking of you" note.  Greeting Cards come in a package of eight, with eight white envelopes.  The inside is blank for you to write your own personal message.  ' Santa Baby ' greeting cards are available at this time.

Wintry Birch

I am really loving how this painting is turning out.  It's my first time really doing detailed trees and its a process that turns out to surprise you!  When I'm in the moment and looking at the paper with out taking a break, I just don't see the details that are forming.  So it's really amazing to put the paint brush down and step away for a bit and then come back with a fresh set of eyes.  This makes for a great winter scape...

Three Leaves

This is my first time experimenting with leaves.. and definitely not my last.  I do like how this turned out, however I am excited to do the next one with a more wet on wet look.  That is one of my favorite things about using watercolor.  It is so sporadic and takes control of the painting all on its own.  I'm really looking forward to the next one.  Maybe I will just use oranges and yellows in the next painting..

Painting In Progress...

I started this painting a couple days ago with the hopes of getting familiar with more color in a portrait.  I did this in about an hour and I had so much fun dropping in heavier amounts of paint.  I am excited to do something different!  This picture started as a portrait of my daughter Olivia and as I kept going, I sort of created an older version of her.  Her hair is darker and her face is more grown up.  I had some fun with it and allowed myself to get creative instead of painting in the lines.  I hope you enjoy this quick portrait!  Thanks for looking.

Barn Labs

'Barn Labs' is one of my favorites!  Who doesn't love sweet soft little puppy faces?  This painting was a gift to my Dad for Christmas several years ago.  He has always love Labrador Retrievers, and this turned out to be the perfect gift.  I hope to do more animals in the near future.

Portrait of Isabella

Misty Harbor

This is one of my favorite paintings I've completed.  Boats are one of my favorite things to paint.  There is something so peaceful and calming about the ocean and the vessels that sail with it.  I am going to be doing an Edition of Seascapes and Islands in the next few months.. So watch for those.. Thank you for reading.

Autumn's Serenade

I have been wanting to experiment with fall colors lately.  Probably due to the start of fall and watching as the leaves morph from green to vibrant organges, reds, and yellows.  It is really just a stunning time of the year.  The holidays are slowing approaching, and school has started.  Its always a bittersweet time of the year for me.  I just love summer and being outdoors all the time, having barbecues, going to the park with my kids.  So I admit I get a little sad when summer ends, but its also the beginning to so many things when fall arrives.  A new school year.. another Halloween with the kids.. Another Thanksgiving turkey dinner.. yum.. And Christmas!  So many things to look forward to.  And all of these things bring me an enormous amount of inspiration to paint.  I hope you enjoy 'Autumn's Serenade'.  I sure enjoyed painting it.

Portrait of Olivia Grace

Olivia Grace 8" x 10"

I did this portrait of my littlest girl Olivia.  This was a Mother's Day present for my Mom and Mother-in-law.  There is nothing better than being able to give a gift that is completely original and from the heart.  After all, parents and grandparents already have everything they need.. So a custom portrait painting of themselves or a loved one is the best gift.
